Global began small—but the vision was always bigger than the room.
In 2008, a young Rev. D. A. Sherron began gathering young people around prayer, biblical teaching, worship, and community. What initially took shape as a ministry to youth and young adults soon developed into an interdenominational church with a vision extending far beyond Brooklyn.
The early years were intentionally fluid. Global gathered in living rooms, on conference calls, online for Bible study, and eventually in rented worship spaces throughout Brooklyn.
The church's first Live @ Five worship experience was held in May 2009 at Charity Baptist Church of Christ on Myrtle Avenue. Global later worshiped at Grace Reformed Church and developed ministry expressions throughout Brooklyn while establishing relationships across denominational and cultural lines. 
During these years, Global discovered its identity:
Interdenominational in worship.
Intergenerational in wisdom.
International in witness.
And even in those early years, something important was already happening:
Global was both physical and digital before “digital church” became common language.
Prayer calls.
Online Bible studies.
In-person worship.
Regional relationships.
The blueprint was already there.

This was the season that tested whether Global was a location or a people.
Following significant transition and the death of Bishop Benjamin S. Kelley in 2013, Global entered one of the most difficult periods in its history.
In January 2014, the congregation was locked out of its Newport Street location at Gethsemane Baptist Church of Deliverance. After worshiping temporarily at another Brooklyn congregation, the church experienced another devastating interruption when its worship location was damaged by arson during Palm Sunday weekend.
Global moved again.
And again.
The congregation worshiped temporarily at Gideon Knights Church and later at a rental hall before finding a new home at 404A Willoughby Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant in 2014. Remarkably, the location brought Global almost full circle—just blocks from where its first monthly services had been held years earlier.
Five moves in five months.
But the church never stopped worshiping.
That season forged something into Global's character that remains today:
We are portable because the Presence is portable.
Willoughby became home.
There, Global moved from survival toward sustainability. People were saved, disciples were formed, leaders were developed, community outreach expanded, and the congregation matured into a fully autonomous church.
In 2015, Pastor Sherron was consecrated to the episcopacy, further expanding Global's bridge-building ministry across the Body of Christ.
The fire did not destroy the vision.
It clarified it.

Back to the Original Vision
Then the world stopped.
In 2020, COVID-19 forced churches everywhere to reconsider what congregation, community, and discipleship could look like without dependable access to a sanctuary.
For Global, however, digital ministry wasn't entirely new.
We had been gathering people through technology since the beginning.
The pandemic accelerated what had already been planted in our DNA.
During this period, Global continued investing in its physical campus—including extensive renovations, broadcast technology, lighting, sound, security, and other improvements—while simultaneously serving people through food assistance, counseling, financial support, teaching, and digital ministry.
But something deeper was happening.
We began asking:
What if digital ministry isn't an extension of the church?
What if it is one of the places where the Church actually lives?
Our congregation was increasingly scattered across cities, states, careers, families, and communities. The old assumption that everybody had to occupy the same room every Sunday no longer adequately described who we were.
By 2025, Global made the decision transition out of our Willoughby Campus. And in doing so, we rediscovered the words that started everything: Establish a community in the world.

THE DIGITAL CATHEDRAL
One House. Many Expressions.
And now the vision comes full circle.
Global Fire Church is a digital-first, globally connected congregation built around discipleship rather than geography.
We call it: GLOBAL CONNECT Where Many Are One.
Our members and partners may worship from Brooklyn, Long Island, Atlanta, Arizona—or across the world.
But distance does not dissolve discipleship.
We gather digitally.
We worship together.
We learn together.
We pray together.
We serve our local communities.
And we gather physically through worship experiences, community initiatives, conferences, fellowships, and special events.
This is not church without embodiment.
It is church without geographical limitation.
